About Me:

I am a wife, mom of 3 teenagers, and I love to read. I do not limit myself to one genre, but do have some that I prefer. Depending on my mood I will choose a book from RomCom, Romance, Dark Romance, Suspense/Thriller, YA, NA, and SciFi/Fantasy. I would love to share the books I read with you so that you may enjoy them too!

It takes so much courage for an author to put their work out there for the public to read. Then to subject themselves to the opinions of those readers. You will not find disrespectful reviews on this page. Even if a book is not for me, it may be something someone else enjoys. I will not belittle or be nasty to any author, regardless of subject matter. No bashing of person or writing will be tolerated.

My goal by creating this blog is to help authors get their books noticed and to help introduce readers to authors they may not usually read.

Also, please note that any links contained on this website I DO NOT profit from. I do receive advanced reader copies of some of the books I review, but I promise to never let that sway my true feelings on the piece of work.

I am willing to help out as many authors/PAs/promotion companies as I can, but please know that my calendar doesn't always allow for a certain time frame. Please feel free to contact me and I can see if I am able to help. This is a one woman show ;) You can visit my Facebook Page (Like/Follow) at https://www.facebook.com/Reading-Escape-Reviews-279044492594921/ and my email is readingescapereviews@gmail.com

Thank you for stopping by! Oh, and be sure to get on the 2017 Goodreads Reading Challenge. I will be asking periodically for your actual and goal number!

Every person has a story to tell. Some may be sweet with a happily ever after, but there are others that end in tragedy. Mine has yet to be finished. My name is Elizabeth Kingston and this is where my story begins.
I never thought my life could be so perfect. I have an amazing job owning my own bakery, and a wonderful husband who I love and who loves me back. Never once did I have to worry about anything, at least, not until the texts started coming in. They always begin the same way … numbers that spell my nickname when read upside down.
31773
It’s someone from my past, only they won’t to tell me who they are, but that by talking to them, I’ll figure it out. It’s a game I refuse to play. Unfortunately, I’m left with no choice when things begin to take a dangerous turn. His name is Anonymous and there’s only one thing he wants … ME.

Trailer

Excerpt

It’s closing time and Vikki and I are busy cleaning, so we can get home. My phone beeps with an incoming text and I look down at it and growl. “You can’t be serious.” Staring back at me isn’t a text from Jake, but from Anonymous. Even though I deleted and blocked the number ninety days ago, I still recognize it.
Vikki moves closer, her eyes wide. “What’s going on?”
I show her the text.
Anonymous: 31773?
Brows furrowed, she sits back. “What does that mean?” I turn my phone upside down, so she can see that the number spells out my name. Her eyes widen. “Wow, that’s cool you can type your name with numbers.”
“But not so cool when I don’t know who the person is,” I counter. “About three months ago, I got texts from this exact same person. Whoever it is likes to play games. I’m sick of it and I want them to leave me alone.” Taking a deep breath, I type out a reply.
Me: WHO IS THIS?
Anonymous: Why all the yelling?
I roll my eyes. This is just ridiculous.
Me: I like using all caps.
Anonymous: Don’t stop on my account. So, what have you been up to? Been a while since we talked.
Me: Yeah, it’s because I blocked the number.
Anonymous: Why?
Me: BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!!!
“What is he saying?” Vikki asks. I show her the texts and her eyes widen. “So, you haven’t talked to him since you blocked the number?”
I think back to when I blocked it and if my calculations are correct, the ninety days was up yesterday. “No, but he has perfect timing. My ninety days ran up yesterday. I might need to run to the cell store and see if they can block it permanently.”
My phone beeps again and a sharp pain settles in my gut. I just want whoever it is to leave me alone.
Anonymous: That hurts. You’ve always been friendly toward me.
Me: Obviously not friendly enough, if you can’t tell me who you are. It’s weird and it makes me uncomfortable. You need to leave me the hell alone. Don’t text, call, or try to contact me in any way. I’m happily married, and I want it to stay that way. GOODBYE!
Heart racing, I log into my cell phone account and before I can block the number, another text comes through.
Anonymous: Sorry 31773 but that’s not going to happen.
The blood in my veins runs cold. Hands shaking, I block his number and my phone drops onto the table. Vikki picks it up and reads the final text, her face growing pale.
“I don’t think this person’s going away."

Blog Tour - Christmas, Alabama by Susan Sands

Christmas, Alabama

Alabama Series by Susan Sands Publication Date: October 26, 2017 Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Holiday
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo | iBooks
Photographer Rachel Prudhomme has finally settled in Ministry, Alabama. Sure, the pace is slower, and she’s had her heart blessed more times than she can count, but putting down her roots where her family is feels right, if only the town’s new doctor, and now neighbor, weren’t so hot and constantly igniting her dreams. How can she keep her vow to steer clear of men when he keeps sauntering across her path?

Excerpt from Christmas, Alabama

Nick’s current challenge was convincing Sally Jo Jordan that indeed she did not have skin cancer.

“But I looked on that medical website online and it showed a mole that looked just like this one.” She unbuttoned her blouse to expose ample cleavage in a very sexy black lace push-up bra. And yes, there was a mole. “Momma says it’s my beauty mark, but I’m worried about skin cancer, you know?”

“I know the Internet can be a scary place when it comes to researching medical conditions. This mole is what we call a benign neoplasm, which means it shows no signs of being cancerous. It’s perfectly round and symmetrical, with regular borders. It’s not terribly dark in color, and shows no signs of flaking, oozing, or bleeding.”

Sally Jo blinked at him, showing no real sign of comprehension. “So, I don’t have cancer? Are you sure you don’t want to have a closer look?” She shoved her chest closer.

He wore a pair of lighted, magnified glasses, or loupes, to get a good look at the not-at-all suspicious brown mole, which basically put his face in her bosom. Nick now pushed the loupes from his eyes down, and around his neck. “You can button your blouse now. If you still have concerns, I can give you a referral to see a dermatologist,” he said.

Just then, his eyes met Nurse Georgie’s and she was clearly holding in her hysterical laughter with every ounce of control she possessed—just barely.

“Have you eaten the casserole I sent?” Sally Jo asked, completely changing the subject.

“Um, I’m having it for dinner this evening. Thanks for the welcome.” He didn’t mention that he was sharing it with Rachel.

“I’ve been waiting to hear from you.” She wore a pout on her full lips, her blouse still open.

He turned away and made a point of noting something in her chart instead of continuing to peer at the woman’s near- naked chest. “It’s been pretty busy since I started here, but I do appreciate your kindness. It helps not having to cook.”

“You’ll let me know how you like it, won’t you? It’s my granny’s recipe,” Sally Jo said.

“Um, sure. I’ll return your dish as soon as I finish with it.”

“My number’s on the bottom of the dish. Don’t break it. Granny’s had that dish since she got it with Green Stamps when her and Granddaddy got married. So, it’s special, you know.”

New Release - Blocked (A Breakaway Novel) by L.P. Dover

Title: Blocked
Series: A Breakaway Novel
Author: L.P. Dover
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: October 31, 2017 Publisher: Random House/Loveswept
He’s got every reason to be cocky . . . until a female cuts him down to size.
I’m Dallas Easton, the best goaltender in the league. I make a damn good living playing hockey, and with women falling at my feet wherever I go, why not enjoy it? I get whatever I want, whenever I want—that is, until I come across the one player who gets the best of me on the ice.
When I try to pummel the dude, all hell breaks loose. Imagine my surprise when the helmet comes off to reveal a woman underneath. And not just any woman, but the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen. Callie Davis is the complete opposite of the puck bunnies I usually go for, a good girl with sick moves and a selfless streak a mile wide. I need to make amends, but she dodges me at every turn. It doesn’t help that Callie’s brother hates my guts, or that my agent thinks she’s bad for my career.
But I could care less what they think. I can’t let our little run-in on the ice be the end of our story. Because when I set my sights on something, I won’t rest until I score.
Heart pounding, I stared him down, waiting for him to take the shot. The second he drew back his stick, I got into position, only for him to hit me right between the eyes with his glove. For a split second I lost my focus, and he slapped the puck right between my legs.
“Motherfucker,” I growled, glaring down at the glove on the ice and the puck in the goal. The worthless cunt actually had the audacity to throw his glove at my face. Kellan burst out laughing and the whole rink echoed as they cheered at my expense. Red just fucked up big time.
The others tried their luck to no avail, and then Red was back at it. I waited for him to throw the other glove, but instead, he turned and sprayed ice right up into my face, his body colliding with mine. During our fall, he hit the puck right into the goal. Rage coursed through my veins and all I could see was red . . . literally. Getting up quickly, he started back toward the others and I slid out my stick, hooking it around his ankle. I jerked him back and he fell. If he wanted to play dirty, I’d show him how dirty I could be. He tried to get up, but I pushed him back down, tossing my mask and gloves onto the ice. The others shouted and skated toward us, but I wasn’t letting Red get away with making me out to be a fool.
“Think you’re hot shit now, huh?” I spat, grabbing him by the jersey. He was smaller than me, so it wasn’t hard to flip him over and rip off his mask. Blinded by rage, I pulled my fist back, only to stop cold in my tracks. I stared at the face behind the mask, completely transfixed.
The person lying on the ice wasn’t Justin’s brother. It was a woman, and not just any woman. She was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. Before any words could escape my lips, Justin tackled me to the ice and my breath whooshed out of my lungs as we slid to the wall.
“What the fuck is your problem? That’s my sister,” he shouted angrily. Eyes darkening, he slammed my shoulders against the wall.
Catching my breath, I looked up at him and held up my hands. “I didn’t know it was a female. I wouldn’t have touched her if I’d known.” Under most circumstances, I’d have punched him and been done, but I felt like a tool.
His nostrils flared. “You’re such a prick.”
“Justin,” his sister called out. We both looked over at her as Kellan and the other two guys helped her up. They all stared daggers at me, including her. “Let’s go.”
Justin pushed off of me and skated over to her. I got one last look at her angelic face and emerald green eyes before she turned around and disappeared off the ice.
