About Me:

I am a wife, mom of 3 teenagers, and I love to read. I do not limit myself to one genre, but do have some that I prefer. Depending on my mood I will choose a book from RomCom, Romance, Dark Romance, Suspense/Thriller, YA, NA, and SciFi/Fantasy. I would love to share the books I read with you so that you may enjoy them too!

It takes so much courage for an author to put their work out there for the public to read. Then to subject themselves to the opinions of those readers. You will not find disrespectful reviews on this page. Even if a book is not for me, it may be something someone else enjoys. I will not belittle or be nasty to any author, regardless of subject matter. No bashing of person or writing will be tolerated.

My goal by creating this blog is to help authors get their books noticed and to help introduce readers to authors they may not usually read.

Also, please note that any links contained on this website I DO NOT profit from. I do receive advanced reader copies of some of the books I review, but I promise to never let that sway my true feelings on the piece of work.

I am willing to help out as many authors/PAs/promotion companies as I can, but please know that my calendar doesn't always allow for a certain time frame. Please feel free to contact me and I can see if I am able to help. This is a one woman show ;) You can visit my Facebook Page (Like/Follow) at https://www.facebook.com/Reading-Escape-Reviews-279044492594921/ and my email is readingescapereviews@gmail.com

Thank you for stopping by! Oh, and be sure to get on the 2017 Goodreads Reading Challenge. I will be asking periodically for your actual and goal number!

Dare to Surrender by Carly Phillips

Dare to Surrender (NY Dares Book 1) by [Phillips, Carly]

Blurb:

Isabelle Masters is done...

Done with her cheating boyfriend.

Done with his domineering ways.

Just done.

Taking off in her leased Mercedes to start over turns out to be the best decision she's ever made — despite being arrested for grand theft auto and hauled off to a local police station. Being rescued by the most unlikely person possible, Gabriel Dare, makes it all worthwhile. After all, she's yearned for the sexy man for years—yet now is her chance to finally take the plunge and dare to become the independent woman she's always wanted to be. But can she be in control of her life if she surrenders to a man like him?

My Review:

This was the first book by Carly Phillips I have read.  I always feel that is an important statement to add.  I'm the kind of person that when I find an author I love, I will read all of their work right away.  I do love finding new authors to obsess over though.  I am pretty sure that I will now be obsessing over Carly Phillips and the Dare's.

There are definitely multiple types of domestic abuse.  It is not always physical.  Emotional and verbal abuse exist and they are the hardest to prove.  Isabelle had been abused and one day the light just clicked for her.  I liked the way Gabe was brought into the story by way meeting his brother to head to the club.  It wasn't an over the top grand entrance.  I also liked that Phillips made Isabelle question Gabe's motives, it can't all be sunshine and roses, can it?  Lucy and Decklan are hilarious and I cannot wait for their stories.

I am giving Dare to Surrender 5 stars.  I loved it.  I felt close with the characters.  I wanted Isabelle to find herself and I felt that she did.  I also wanted Gabe to be someone really, truly in love with her, and I wasn't disappointed.  There was enough comedy to make me laugh throughout as well.  Oh, and if Lance ends up with a nasty case of genital warts....well that sucks for him :)
