About Me:

I am a wife, mom of 3 teenagers, and I love to read. I do not limit myself to one genre, but do have some that I prefer. Depending on my mood I will choose a book from RomCom, Romance, Dark Romance, Suspense/Thriller, YA, NA, and SciFi/Fantasy. I would love to share the books I read with you so that you may enjoy them too!

It takes so much courage for an author to put their work out there for the public to read. Then to subject themselves to the opinions of those readers. You will not find disrespectful reviews on this page. Even if a book is not for me, it may be something someone else enjoys. I will not belittle or be nasty to any author, regardless of subject matter. No bashing of person or writing will be tolerated.

My goal by creating this blog is to help authors get their books noticed and to help introduce readers to authors they may not usually read.

Also, please note that any links contained on this website I DO NOT profit from. I do receive advanced reader copies of some of the books I review, but I promise to never let that sway my true feelings on the piece of work.

I am willing to help out as many authors/PAs/promotion companies as I can, but please know that my calendar doesn't always allow for a certain time frame. Please feel free to contact me and I can see if I am able to help. This is a one woman show ;) You can visit my Facebook Page (Like/Follow) at https://www.facebook.com/Reading-Escape-Reviews-279044492594921/ and my email is readingescapereviews@gmail.com

Thank you for stopping by! Oh, and be sure to get on the 2017 Goodreads Reading Challenge. I will be asking periodically for your actual and goal number!

Pitch Dark by A.M. Wilson & Alex Grayson

Title: Pitch Dark
Author: A.M. Wilson and Alex Grayson
Genre: Dark Romance
Cover Designer: Covers by Combs
Release Date: September 15, 2017
One girl disappeared. After fifteen years, her cold lifeless body was found on the damp forest floor. Not an inch of her was unmarked by the horrors she endured. Alone, malnourished, abused in horrific ways; this was how she died.
One girl was found walking the streets, covered in dirt and scars. She had no memory of who she was, where she came from, or what happened to her. Even though the marks on her body attested to years of heinous abuse, her strength shone through at every turn.
Revenge and justice were sworn.
Years of searching brought up nothing but dead ends. Detective Niko James was too late to save his childhood friend, but he vows not to let down another.
The clock is ticking and the trail is pitch dark.

Pitch Dark is in the dark romance genre and you should take heed to the warnings the authors give in the beginning of the book.

With that being said, Pitch Dark is an intense story about a police detective who's childhood friend and love disappeared without a trace.  With the public feeling that she was more than likely a runaway due to her home life, the case was left at that.  Knowing Aislin, Niko didn't believe Aislin would ever just runaway without saying goodbye.  Niko has not ever stopped looking for Aislin.

Pitch Dark is not an easy read.  The subject matter is very intense and obviously dark.  I found the writing a bit hard to keep on task with.  The story jumps around from past to present, then from different POVs.  You have Niko who is written from his POV, but then you have Lelu who is written in the third person.  I found it very hard to concentrate on who I was reading and what time period I was in.  The story was very long and in many places warranted an extended explanation of events.  However, the way the story wraps up is very sudden.  I am giving Pitch Dark 3.5 stars.  The overall story line is great, it was just the style of writing wasn't easy for me to read.  That may be where the collaboration between the two authors left a couple of wrinkles.  Both have fantastic ideas and stories to tell, it just needs a bit of a different mesh.

I give Pitch Dark 3.5 stars!

This chilling story sent shivers down my spine. I could not stop reading. Powerful characters that will stay with me for a long time. A must read! ~Alta Hensley, USA Today Bestselling Author
My heart was ripped out while reading Pitch Dark. I couldn't believe the immediate darkness and extreme grit that came with the very beginning of this novel. I'm talking some Stephen King type shit! ~ Alecia, The Staircase Reader
A riveting story and I think this in reality could be one hell of a twisted movie. ~ Melissa, Book Addicts Reviews
I was blown away by the characters and how well written this is. This is much more than I originally thought it was going to be. This is now currently my top favorite book of all time not just for 2017. ~ Amanda, Goodreads Reviewer
This book brings to life a monster that just very well could be lurking in your neighborhood and that is down right terrifying to think about. ~ Misty, Goodreads Reviewer

A. M. Wilson loves infusing her stories with real life--the good, the bad, and the steamy parts. She thinks there's something special about romance; that pivotal moment when two characters realize their love for each other, but she likes wading through a little angst to get there. When she isn't furiously typing on her computer, she can be found searching for her next all-consuming read. A. M. lives in Minnesota with her husband, two children, and black lab.
Alex Grayson is the bestselling author of heart pounding, emotionally gripping contemporary romance including the Jaded Series, the Consumed Series, and two standalone novels. Her passion for books was reignited by a gift from her sister-in-law. After spending several years as a devoted reader and blogger, Alex decided to write and independently publish her first novel in 2014 (an endeavor that took a little longer than expected). The rest, as they say, is history.
Originally a southern girl, Alex now lives in Ohio with her husband, two children, two cats and dog. She loves the color blue, homemade lasagna, casually browsing real estate, and interacting with her readers. Visit her website, www.alexgraysonbooks.com, or find her on social media!
