She was with him.
Fucking him.
Holding him.
Whispering sweet shit in his ear like she loved him.
She loved me, damn it.
She was mine.
I’d proven that the night she killed for me. She hadn’t done it because she was afraid for her life. She’d done it because she fucking loved me. She hated me, too. But that just added spice every time she came back. I owned her, body and soul. And now my brother in all but blood was stealing her away?
My hands clenched, and I stood up from my desk, stalking the length of the room. I was out of control. The façade I so carefully cultivated was cracking all around me, and I pulsed with an anger I hadn’t felt for years. Not since I was a slave like her. Not since I’d been the one on my knees, begging for my life. I’d fought my way free of that. I’d killed my master and overtaken his business.
I’d sworn that I’d never be as powerless as I’d been in those years.
Weak.
She’d brought me to this. She’d fucking demolished me. Gutted me. Took my simple pleasures and hard-earned business acumen and left them scattered behind her like trash. I couldn’t fucking think without her near.
Was this love? If it was, it was a goddamn train wreck. It was poison in my veins, and a shroud over my reason. I hated this feeling. This… weakness. I hated that I wanted her beside me, and only me. She was arsenic on my lips.
Now she was distancing herself from me. Turning away and into the arms of Dominic instead.
No. She was mine, and I wasn’t going to allow her to walk away. I owned her; all of her. And it was time she fucking remembered that.
