About Me:

I am a wife, mom of 3 teenagers, and I love to read. I do not limit myself to one genre, but do have some that I prefer. Depending on my mood I will choose a book from RomCom, Romance, Dark Romance, Suspense/Thriller, YA, NA, and SciFi/Fantasy. I would love to share the books I read with you so that you may enjoy them too!

It takes so much courage for an author to put their work out there for the public to read. Then to subject themselves to the opinions of those readers. You will not find disrespectful reviews on this page. Even if a book is not for me, it may be something someone else enjoys. I will not belittle or be nasty to any author, regardless of subject matter. No bashing of person or writing will be tolerated.

My goal by creating this blog is to help authors get their books noticed and to help introduce readers to authors they may not usually read.

Also, please note that any links contained on this website I DO NOT profit from. I do receive advanced reader copies of some of the books I review, but I promise to never let that sway my true feelings on the piece of work.

I am willing to help out as many authors/PAs/promotion companies as I can, but please know that my calendar doesn't always allow for a certain time frame. Please feel free to contact me and I can see if I am able to help. This is a one woman show ;) You can visit my Facebook Page (Like/Follow) at https://www.facebook.com/Reading-Escape-Reviews-279044492594921/ and my email is readingescapereviews@gmail.com

Thank you for stopping by! Oh, and be sure to get on the 2017 Goodreads Reading Challenge. I will be asking periodically for your actual and goal number!

Resisting Redemption by Amabel Daniels

Title: Resisting Redemption
Author: Amabel Daniels
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: April 15, 2017

Desperate for a paycheck after forfeiting a chance at her dream career, Roxie Malone accepts a job at a law firm, assisting a hard-to-please and too tempting criminal attorney. Struggling to censor her sarcasm and adjust to the expectations of the challenging man, she maintains one goal. Do not get fired. As long as she refuses to mix business with pleasure, she might have a shot at earning the bonus at the end of the case.
Me, assistant. You, boss.
Losing the drive that made him one of the top lawmen at his firm, Grant Newland takes a leave of absence at the worst possible time. Upon hearing his friend is charged for murder, Grant races back to work to fight for justice. But concentrating on the case is easier said than done with the gorgeous, no-nonsense assistant trailing behind him.
Blurring the lines…
Roxie and Grant agree to leave their pasts behind them, opting to swallow the pain of the sacrifices they’d made. They focus on answering one question. Who killed famous singer, Josh Warren? Chasing clues and stumbling over dead ends, they try to deny their attraction to each other. It’s only a matter of time before they can debate whether it might be better to tackle their case as a team, instead of resisting each other.

With a head full of red hair—real red, not strawberry or auburn, but flat-out, vibrant, bold, red—she jerked her face toward him. She narrowed her eyes as she studied him. A slow, concentrated onceover from his immaculately polished shoes, all the way up to his still-wet-from-the-shower hair.

Like Jessica Rabbit, in one sexy, sweet package on her knees in front of him, her hair fell to cover one eye.

Oh, fuck me.

“Juanita…?” Grant couldn’t remove his stare from the woman. A sinking feeling she was bad news clouded his mind. The mere sight of her and he couldn’t think fast enough, all blood fueling a more southernly head.
Red rose to her feet, showing tight curves in her simple black skirt, her green blouse failing to contain her cleavage. Papers stayed clutched in a bunch in one hand, and she stuck her other in a fist at her hip.
“Grant, please meet your new assistant,” Juanita said.
Oh, fuck me, please. No.
Juanita and Lia had pulled this kind of stunt before, when he’d been grouchy prior to his leave. They’d hired gorgeous, fuckable women to be his assistant. Maybe Chris had been in on it, too, thinking a hot woman in his immediate proximity might snap him out of his asshole ways. An office-arranged rebound to distract him from the toxicity of his ex at the firm.
He never fraternized with the staff. Ever.

Grant is known for not keeping an assistant for more than a day.  He's picky, demanding, and has zero tolerance.  He's back to his job as a lawyer after a personal leave of absence.  You know someone is hard to work for when they offer a $80k bonus if you last a year!

Roxie has applied for a job in which she has zero qualifications, but gets hired on the spot.  Upon her first day, she isn't sure if she has been "found out" or not.  Roxie needs the bonus of this job desperately and has convinced herself she will do anything to get it.  She hasn't met Grant yet.  Or, is it Grant that will be kept on his toes?

This is my first book by Amabel Daniels and I am so excited to have found her work.  I do prefer to read in the first person POV and Resisting Redemption is written in the third person POV.  As I always mention, if it is a well written book, I usually don't notice the POV thing quite so much.  Amabel Daniels did a fantastic job with Resisting Redemption.  It was intriguing and drew me in right away.  Not only because I needed to find out if Roxie could make it, but also to find out what happened with the case Grant is working on.

5 Stars for Resisting Redemption!

Amabel Daniels lives in Northwest Ohio with her patient husband, adventurous toddlers, smiley baby, and a collection of too many cats and dogs. Although she holds a Master’s degree in Ecology, her true love is finding a good book. When she isn’t spending time outdoors, or wondering how to negotiate with her mightily independent two-year-old daughter, she’s busy brewing up her next novel, usually as she lets her mind run off with the addictive words of “what if…”
